Removing paint spilled on bricks

Q.    When we bought our house last year there was old, spilled dry paint on some of the bricks on the lower section of our bi-level home. We have tried Goof-off and scraping with a wire brush but we have not been able to remove the paint. It definitely detracts from the home’s beauty. Please help us remove this paint.

A.    Buy a semisolid paint remover from a paint or hardware store and apply it to the areas to be treated with a cheap bristle brush. When the paint has softened up and turned into a gel-like paste, blast it off with your garden hose. If there are remnants embedded in the brick pores, rub a strong mixture of TSP-PF to the areas with a stiff fiber brush and flush them out again.
