Adding fiberglass to attic insulation

Q.    What is your opinion on encapsulating vermiculite with pink , fluffy fiberglass batts? In one of your articles in 2013 you indicated that blown-in cellulose was a possibility for encapsulating vermiculite, so would something similar like Owen Corning’s pink fiberglass batts also be able to be used to encapsulate vermiculite around the perimeter of an attic?

A.  Yes, you can use fiberglass. But be careful that you do not disturb the vermiculite in the process of installing the fibrous insulation.

The advantage of blowing cellulose is that you cover the vermiculite without walking throughout the attic and risking to stir up any dust from the existing vermiculite.
