Q. I cannot find the answer to this online anywhere. All of the homes in our 1960s-era neighborhood in South Florida have staggered masonry quoins on all exterior corners. What is the correct way to repaint them? We find that some painters just apply finish to the outward facing side. Others also paint around the perimeter to where each quoin meets the exterior wall. Thank you for anything you can offer.
A. I don’t know of any rules about painting quoins. It seems to be a matter of preferences, so do whatever looks best to you. My own preference would be to paint the quoins’ faces and also the returns to the main walls.by
